Mark-making is a great exercise for exploring new materials and expressing conscious and unconscious emotional states. The other day I was feeling an unsettling, persistent tension sensation in the middle of my forehead. Worry thoughts and trying to figure things out had me in a stressed state.
After doing an hour of marks, I felt more relaxed and focused on being in the present rather than planning and goal setting.
I enjoy playing with pastels and love the messy process. The layers of gritty hard, soft, and sublet textures create simple yet beautiful painterly allover patterns.
Another work in progress so stay tuned!
